Description
5 – Page Research Paper – You will write a 5-page double-spaced paper on a current political topic of your choosing. This is not a current event or opinion paper . It is a research paper with strict MLA or APA requirements. Minimum 10 citations.

The topic must be and the following information must be clearly described in the paper:

1. How the issue is government related.

2. Explain the reason for and how the government regulates and controls the laws regarding the issue.

3. Identify the state, legal and governmental authorities (state, federal, or NGO) that regulate the issue.

4. How the laws or policy are passed. ( state, federal, global NGO body)

5. The impact on society – morally, ethically, physically, financially, socially, legally, and personally.

Examples of types of current topics. The U.K. leaving the EU is current. The war in the ME is current. The Supreme Court ruling on Texas abortion law. Environmental impact of building in flood plaines and current flooding in states is current. All of these are examples. Every student has issues they are passionate about so for me to limit the area of relevant government current issues or policies for research would be restrictive in my mind.

Please do not recycle an old history paper or some other paper from a previous class. That is an automatic F.
